What Is NAS Tillamook Like Today?

Administration BuildingBecause NAS Tillamook was located in a sparsely populated area, it almost seems as if time itself, froze. If you were to visit the blimp base today, it wouldn't be too difficult to picture what life was once like here.

There are of course a few new spots of recent development scattered around, but for the most part, very little has changed. You can still travel along the original unmodified roads, and poke about the old base buildings. If anything, times are a little more peaceful now (considering the recent growth around Tillamook).

Although time has been more generous to some buildings, most remain in private use. The Port of Tillamook Bay currently manages the properties of the former naval air station, and has slowly begun to restore a few of them. The Administration Building (pictured), is a prime example. With a little luck, and a lot of funding, it may be possible to save each of the remaining survivors.
