NAS Tillamook was situated on a stretch of flat land, collared by a semi-circle of gently rolling hills. These hills provided an abundant source of timber for hangar and base construction. In the distance (about 6 miles), is the Pacific Ocean, as is the small town of Tillamook, Oregon.
