I think you should put WHERE some of the military bases are.

Webmaster's Note:Since our website is focused primarily on NAS Tillamook and her sister bases, this material is not related to the content of our website. Perhaps in the future, we'll expand our website to include other military bases as well.

I'm looking for someone who knew Lowell (Tiny) Reid. I think he was a civilian inspector of steam heating plants during WWII. At the time his home town was Toledo, OR. Please contact me if you have any information.

My boss does not believe that the Tustin hangars are so large that they actually create their own weather inside. Can it actually cloud up and rain inside the hangars, while outside is dry? Please help. I need an objective third party to verify this fact. Thanks.

Webmaster's Note: Although this question refers specifically to the hangars at Tustin, the answer applies to all hangars, and can be found in our FAQ Corner.

I need posters from WWII and the names of African American ships. I have a show and tell to do on 13 of Dec. 2002. My professor claims there are 18 of them, so I need the names of all of them. Tell me this, was Frederick Douglas one those name? I was only able to find nine ships names after African Americans. Any posters or the lists of African American men would be helpful. I will check back with after class today, that's around noon. The more you send me the better the grade I can get. I need to know what was some of the men job in WWII meaning blacks. And how many rose up in rank during this time? Pictures and how about the flyers that was use to have the men sign up? What was the paid rate then and was there a difference among the men. If you can send this thing I know I got an (A) coming. Keep in mind that this report is due in Dec. And then the final is over. Thanks, check back with you later.

Prior to the second world war, African-Americans could only serve as mess attendants, due to racial segregation. By April 7, 1942, the U.S. Navy began accepting African-American volunteers for general service. Executive Order 9981 was signed by President Harry S. Truman in 1948, which effectively desegregated the Armed Services, and lead the way for the for the first African American to graduate from the Naval Academy in 1949.
