HISTORIC LTA BASE RESOURCES |
| |
Moffett Field Museum
Transforming a collection of documents, stories, and photos into easy reading, is no small task. Each section
is neatly organized, and historical references include everything from early airship history, to the ever famous Blue
Angels. |

NAS Weeksville, NC
This Naval Air Station featured one wooden hangar, and one steel clamshell hangar. The wooden one has since
burned down, and is detailed in a rather informative narrative, but the steel hangar is presently in use by a private
corporation. |

Navy Lakehurst Historical Society
Still active, NAS Lakehurst is perhaps the best known of all LTA bases. Rich in history, it was home to the
navy's rigid airship fleet, and it served as the western port for the giant German dirigibles. Perhaps it's most remembered as
the site of the Hindenburg disaster. |

Richmond Naval Air Station
NAS Richmond was once the second-largest LTA station in the U.S. Unlike any of her other sisters, she featured
a total of three wooden hangars. Here, you can learn about her own unique history, and how nature leveled all three hangars in
one mighty blow. |
